Hispanic Serving Institution
MSU Denver continues to serve the highest number of Hispanic/Latina/o/x students among institutions of higher education in the state of Colorado.
Men and boys have their own unique set of challenges, and there is an accumulating body of research in men’s health that is defining and clarifying these real and sometimes overwhelming challenges. The morbidity and mortality data in areas where healthy masculinity is not promoted or understood not only impacts the individual lives of adult men and boys, but also affect other men, women, children, animals and perhaps even the environment itself.
The creation of a men’s health program that aligns with online degrees at MSU Denver is intentional and designed to meet a growing need to inform developing programs and future health care practitioners. Consistent with the intention of MSU Denver to transform lives, students of this program will achieve competency, and many will become experts in transforming the lived experience of men and boys. Imagine the advantage to social service agencies, healthcare programs, criminal justice systems, mental health workers and educations systems to be able to employ qualified professionals who possess skills in guiding men to personal and professional success.
The Men’s Health Digital Badge is designed for people who work in careers impacted by the behaviors of men. It is designed for persons who recognize the increased effects of men who are directionally lost or poorly motivated and astray. Thus, the badge can showcase efficacy in working with men.
The Men’s Health digital badge has been intentionally created to provide needed education on the issues affecting the health of men and boys, specifically their lack of engagement in healthcare, education, workforce, and relationships. Having the credentials gained by enrollment into this fully online credential, which is currently the only online men’s health academic credential in the United States, will demonstrate to future potential employers and graduate programs that a student has achieved competency in understanding the underlying factors leading to the current crisis of men and boys.
The online minor in Men’s Health can complement any online or in-person major that is relevant to the student’s career goals. Online Majors relevant to the Men’s Health Minor include:
